How to Sell a Car for Scrap: 3 Easy Steps

If you have a vehicle that you are no longer using, you may want to consider selling it as scrap metal and getting paid. Our location in Keene, New Hampshire is offering free pick-ups for scrap passenger vehicles within a 20-mile radius of our facility.

Selling your car for scrap really only requires one simple step: call us! Our facility is designed to take your car as is, so there’s very little you need to prepare to get paid. If you want to know more, read through these three easy steps to help you sell your car for scrap.

Step 1: Leave Your Car Intact

Leave your car intact to get top dollar for your vehicle. The valuable parts of your vehicle are taken into consideration when quoting a price or picking up the car, such as the engine, alternator, and more. Stripping the car before bringing it to our facility takes all the value out of the vehicle.

Step 2: Have the Appropriate Documents

If your vehicle’s year is a 2000 or newer, you need a title that matches the vehicle identification to show proof of ownership. If your car is older than a 2000, you don’t need a title. However, you still need to bring an ID to get paid.

Step 3: Call for Service

Scrap It offers free pickup for scrap passenger vehicles within a 20-mile radius of our Keene, New Hampshire facility. If you are outside this 20-mile radius, we can still tow your vehicle, but additional pickup charges may apply.

Another option is to drive your car to our New Hampshire facility if it still runs. While some facilities require you to drain your car’s gas tank and hazardous fluids beforehand, we are an NH-DES certified automotive recycler and will properly drain and dispose of all fluids and hazardous items in an environmentally-friendly process.

At our facility, we also accept dump trucks, large equipment, and other oversized or overweight vehicles for scrap. For these types of larger vehicles, transportation to our facility will need to be hauled in on larger trucks for additional charges. We do not accept RVs, pop-up campers, and other vehicles that are primarily plastic, wood, fiberglass, and cloth, with little to no metal value.

If you have further questions about our scrap car service, or if you would like to arrange to sell your vehicle and get paid, call our New Hampshire facility at 603-355-1300. We look forward to hearing from you!
